Simple, yet ingenious. Freestanding arches aren't easy to build and a certain amount of skill and patience is necessary. This set includes 27 large colored blocks plus a natural support block. GRIMM'S uses mostly alder, cherry, maple and lime wood to craft their toys. The blocks are colored with non-toxic waterbased stains and finished with a natural oil. Curved Building Block Set is made in Germany by GRIMM'S Spiel und Holz. Remarks about GRIMM'S colors: You may notice some paint transference on the blocks. This is not considered a defect as the blocks are unlacquered. GRIMM'S does not use lacquer in order to preserve the natural feel of the wood (which is in line with their aim to design toys according to principles of Waldorf and Montessori education). Unlacquered blocks are also easier to build with as they are less likely to slip. Age: 3 years + (One block is small enough to pose a choking hazard.) Dimensions: largest arch - length - 45 cm (17.8 in.) largest arch - height - 25 cm (9.8 in.) blocks are of three different widths from 3.5 - 5 cm (1.4 - 2 in.)
