The opening of the Klean Kanteen Wide bottles is the same size as old-school plastic bottles (e.g. Nalgenes™) and is easy to fill and pour from. All Wide Kanteens have stainless steel external threads in a universal design so they work with most backcountry water filters. The plastic on the exterior of the caps is made from polypropylene (pp#5), a plastic that has been extensively tested and doesn’t contain BPA or other harmful chemicals. The inside of the caps is made of 100% stainless steel, so your drinks don't touch plastic. The Klean Kanteen Wide has 2 cap options. Choose between the Stainless Loop Cap or the multi-purpose Flip D-Ring (caps can also be purchased separately). Klean Kanteens are designed with radius (rounded) corners and large, rounded, sweeping threads so they’re easy to clean with no hard angles or sharp corners where dirt and bacteria can stick. The bottles are made from 18/8, food-grade stainless steel, which is BPA- and toxin-free. Klean Kanteen bottles don’t need a plastic or epoxy liner like aluminum bottles, which have to be lined to keep chemicals from seeping into drinks. Comparison between Klean Kanteen Classic and Wide Bottles: -
Mouth and Neck - Classic has a slightly narrower, elongated neck which makes the Kanteen splash-resistant. Both Classic and Wide fit ice cubes. -
Threads - Classic has internal threads. A compact, lightweight adapter for backcountry water filters is available (sold separately). The Wide has external threads and its universal thread design works with most backcountry water filters (so no adapter is necessary). -
Bottle Shape and Colors - Classic has an elongated neck which is easy to hang onto. Classic feels more like a bottle than a jar. Classic is available in brushed stainless steel finish and and a range of attractive colors. The Wide has a slightly shorter profile and is more compact and lighter. The Wide has a Mason jar feel. Wide is available in brushed Stainless finish only. -
Cap Options -Toxin-free polypropylene (pp#5) and stainless steel caps are available in Loop, Flat and Sport Cap styles for the Classic. For the Wide bottles, stainless steel Loop and Flip D-Ring caps are available. No sport caps or sippy adapters are available for Wide Kanteens. -
Sizes Available - Classic is available in four sizes: 12, 18, 27, 40 ounces. Wide is available in five sizes: 12, 18, 27, 40 and 64 ounces. Specifications: -
